This Kundalini* yoga exercise is ideal for a quick energy when you have a spare moment.
This exercise opens and strengthens your heart so that positive energy can flow into your life. The chest cavity, where the heart resides, is the centre of empathy and love. After completing this exercise, you will be able to feel your heart area opening. You balance your oxygen levels through conscious breathing. Relax and breathe freely so that you feel alert and clear-headed.
Sit in a cross-legged position and hold your spine erect. If necessary, you can sit on a (meditation) cushion for support. If you wish to do the exercise while sitting in a chair, place both your feet flat on the ground. Stretch out both arms parallel to the ground. Spread your fingers wide with your palms facing. Hold this position and breathe deeply and strongly for 1 to 3 minutes. Then inhale deeply, hold your breath, ball your hands into fists and then draw them slowly to your chest while tensing as hard as you can. Breathe out once both fists are touching your chest, and relax. If you wish, you can close your eyes during this exercise and focus on the point between your eyebrows. At the end of the exercise, make sure to take a few deep breaths and feel the pranic energy that you have generated.
Please ask your doctor if this exercise is suitable for you.
* Kundalini yoga is a type of yoga that is very dynamic in practice and combines physical movement with intense breathing exercises. In Kundalini yoga, the practised exercises often stimulate certain regions of the body that affect specific organ functions. The meditative aspect of many of the exercises increases physical awareness, improves the practitioner’s ability to concentrate and provides deep relaxation.
