Do you feel out of balance? Then this Kundalini* yoga will provide balance and strengthen your core.
This exercise is ideal for training your balance and will bring equilibrium to your life. At the same time, you will be strengthening the even stabilisation of your trunk, your abdominal muscles, your back muscles, and your coordination. The body’s core is the centre of the navel chakra, which this exercise especially focuses on. After completing this exercise, you will feel in balance both internally and externally and ready to face all of life’s challenges.
Get into the table-top pose on your hands and knees. Position your hands beneath your shoulders and your knees beneath your hips. Stretch out your spine and position it parallel to the floor. Lift your left leg and right arm and hold them extended horizontal to the floor. In this position, inhale deeply into your belly and breathe out. Hold your body straight, so that your neck forms an extension of your spine. Stabilise your core by tensing your back and stomach. Stay in this position for 3 minutes. Then breathe in, out and change sides: now lift your right leg and left arm. Hold the position and breathe for another 2 1/2 minutes. If required, place a blanket beneath your knee to protect it.
* Kundalini yoga is a type of yoga that is very dynamic in practice and combines physical movement with intense breathing exercises. In Kundalini yoga, the practised exercises often stimulate certain regions of the body that affect specific organ functions. The meditative aspect of many of the exercises increases physical awareness, improves the practitioner’s ability to concentrate and provides deep relaxation.
