Our production process

Plenty of power using very little energy: our sustainable production process

Every year, more than half a billion teabags are produced in our factories. And this number is increasing year-on-year. With growing production quantities, however, comes an increase in the use of energy and resources, as well as our level of responsibility.

In Imola in northern Italy, an area known as ‘Packaging Valley’, more than half a billion YOGI TEA® teabags are produced every year. And this number is increasing year-on-year. With growing production quantities, however, comes an increase in the use of energy and resources, as well as our level of responsibility. That’s why our high-performance filling and packaging technologies use as little energy as possible, thereby producing the lowest possible level of emissions.

Of course, the factory in Imola runs on sustainable electricity from renewable energy sources. Smart technology also adapts the air conditioning to requirements, allowing more energy savings to be made.

Our sustainable approach covers the entire production process, from our filling and packaging facilities to our sustainable logistics.

Sustainable transport: rail not road

Once they have been securely and sustainably packed, our teas set out on their comfortable, efficient and environmentally friendly rail journey to the finished goods warehouse. The warehouse for southern Europe is also in Italy and we have another one in Germany so that we can keep transport routes as short as possible. From there, our teas are sent out to retailers and wholesalers across all the European countries in which YOGI TEA® can be enjoyed.
